Disable The Port USB Disk Function

For certain reason on your windows xp computer, you may disable the USB, external harddisk, external CD-ROM, memory flash function which are using USB port without affecting the other peripherals that use USB ports such as keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner and so on.

To disable the USB port is by windows registry:

1. Click start>Run>Type regedit>Click OK
2. In registry Editor Windows go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\USBSTOR

3. Double click Dword Start (on the right) replace Data Value 3 to 4 then click OK – close registry editor windows. Now the USB function had been disable
(you must restart your computer)

To restore the function of the USB disk to be normal again repeat the steps above, on the third step restore the Value Data of 4 to 3.

Good try.
